MARBLELIFE® Marble Polish

Description

Marblelife Marble Polish is like having a service professional in a bottle. It’s a rare product in that it allows you to genuinely polish marble with safe abrasives and not just put an oily film on it. Marblelife Marble Polish allows you to polish out etches and light scratches, in most cases without having to call a service professional. Etches and scratches are damages to marble and with Marble Polish, you can restore your marble’s shine once again and without an oily film. This is only for polished marble. If used on a satin, matte or honed finish, it will begin to put a shine to the finish.

Marble Polish is designed for small repairs like spots, spills, cup rings as well as on such areas as countertops, vanity tops or table tops. Marble Polish is not designed to polish large areas such as floors. For floors and large areas consult with a Marblelife Service Professional for trusted help.

Marble Polish is a true professional’s product and is used by Marblelife Service Technicians. Marble varies from hard and dense to softer and more porous. As well, an etch can vary from light to an actual pit eaten out of the marble. This means that the degree of effort will vary as well.

NOTE:  Marble Polish must be used in conjunction with Marblelife Marble & Travertine Cleaner in order to achieve a successful outcome.

Product Directions

The following are two recommended procedures to properly polish out etches and light scratches from polished marble and travertine, both with a buffer and without a buffer.  The choice to use a buffer is completely yours.  Buffers are most helpful in larger areas like countertops, vanities or table tops.  Small repairs like spots, spills or cup rings can be easily done by hand.  Either way, the choice is yours.

Marblelife Polish is a professionals product and requires some care when being used.  You will want to work quickly once the product is on the marble surface.  If marble polish is left to sit on the surface without moving, it can cause an etch itself.  However, while in motion, it is wonderful for polishing marble.

With Buffer Method

Using a low speed orbiting buffer can help make for easier work on larger areas.  Be careful to clear the area and protect as needed, as the buffer can at times splatter polish.  For this reason we recommend wearing old clothing and protect other nearby furniture or surfaces.  Before using the buffer, it is recommended that you first use the Without Buffer Method to gain an understanding of how your particular marble responds to the Marble Polish and to know how much Marble Cleaner is required.

Needed Supplies: (Marble Kit includes everything except towels)

• Marblelife Marble & Travertine Cleaner
• Marblelife Marble Polish
• Clean soft rags
• Paper towels
• Microfiber Towels (Optional)
• 6” Orbiting Buffer
• 6” Tan Polishing Pad

 

Step 1 – Clean

Before polishing, it is important that you first clean the area thoroughly with Marblelife Marble & Travertine Cleaner.  This neutralizes any acids that may be present and removes oils, dirt and other contaminants that you will not want in your polishing slurry.

Spray Marble & Travertine Cleaner on surface and scrub with a clean soft cloth.  Allow the cleaner to soak for a couple minutes, then buff dry with the dry side of your cloth.  After buffing dry you are clear to proceed to step two.

Step 2 – Preparing the Buffer & Pad

Remove the backing from the piece of Velcro that came with your buffer.  Apply the self sticking piece of Velcro to the center of the bottom of the black rotating base of the buffer.  This will help hold the polishing pad in place.  Next, press the 6” Tan Polishing Pad to the bottom of the buffer.  The Velcro will not hold the polishing pad to the buffer, it will only help hold it in place while in use.

Step 3 – Applying a Neutral Base

Slowly spray an egg sized amount of Marble & Travertine Cleaner on the etched or scratched area.  Marble Polish is capable of polishing out heavy etches in hard marble, so to work with light etches in soft marble, we use Marble & Travertine Cleaner to “cool” down the Polish so that it doesn’t cause a larger etch.

Step 4 – Applying the Polish

Apply about a quarter size amount of Marble Polish onto the bottom of the tan polishing pad.  Place the pad and buffer over the damaged area, turn on the buffer and move the buffer in a small circular motion with a medium pressure.  Your pressure should be enough that it slows the buffer slightly, but not so firm that it drastically slows the buffer.  Polish for only about 10 seconds and IMMEDIATELY proceed to Step 5.

Step 5 – Neutralize & Remove Polish

Immediately spray Marblelife Marble & Travertine Cleaner onto the polished area enough to saturate the Polish on the marble surface and immediately wipe Polish off the surface with a paper towel.

Step 6 – Clean & Survey

After wiping the Marble Polish off, spray the Marble & Travertine Cleaner on the polished area again to thoroughly neutralize and clean the area.  Buff dry and assess your progress.  At this point the damage may be gone, you marble looks great and you are done.  If the etch is lighter but still visible, repeat Step 2 through 6 until damage is no longer visible.

If the damage is gone or lighter, but the area you polished has a haze, you will want to repeat steps 2 through 6, but this time using more Marble & Travertine Cleaner to cool down the polish.  If after each application you are not seeing improved results, you should repeat Steps 2 through 6, but now using less to no Marble & Travertine Cleaner.

Without Buffer Method

Polishing by hand is a good way to deal with small issues like spots, spills and cup rings.  It will take firm pressure, but allows you to do a small controlled area at a time to better understand how your particular marble responds to the Marble Polish.

Needed Supplies: (Marble Kit includes everything except towels)

• Marblelife Marble & Travertine Cleaner
• Marblelife Marble Polish
• Clean soft rags
• Paper towels
• Microfiber Towels (Optional)

Step 1 – Clean

Before polishing, it is important that you first clean the area thoroughly with Marblelife Marble & Travertine Cleaner.  This neutralizes any acids that may be present and removes oils, dirt and other contaminants that you will not want in your polishing slurry.

Apply about a quarter size amount of Marble Polish onto the clean cloth.  With the Marble Polish on the rag, polish the damaged area in a circular motion with firm pressure.  Only do an 8” diameter area or smaller at a time.  Polish for only about 10 seconds and IMMEDIATELY proceed to Step 4.

Step 4 – Neutralize & Remove Polish

Immediately spray Marblelife Marble & Travertine Cleaner onto the polished area enough to saturate the polish on the marble surface and immediately wipe Polish off the surface with a paper towel.

Step 5 – Clean & Survey

After wiping the Marble Polish off, spray the Marble & Travertine Cleaner on the polished area again to thoroughly neutralize and clean the area.  Buff dry and assess your progress.  At this point the damage may be gone, you marble looks great and you are done.  If the etch is lighter but still visible, repeat Step 2 through 5 until damage is no longer visible.
