Quick Tips

Healthy Bathrooms Healthy Families

Have you heard people saying the bathroom is the busiest room in your house? They could be right. Some popular medical websites state the average bathroom contains thousands of germs and viruses.

Hang on though! Don’t go and lock your family out of the bathroom just yet. There are a few simple steps you can do to prevent the spread of germs and viruses.

Healthy Smiles

First off, keep your toothbrushes dry and clean. Be sure to keep it up on a countertop, away from any splashing water where it can get contaminated. Also, keep each toothbrush separated from the others to prevent cross contamination. If the toothbrushes touch, that can increase the odds of germs spreading from brush to brush. Be sure to regularly replace your toothbrush for a new one as well.

Raising The Bar

Switch out your bar soap with liquid soap.   Experts say bar soap can hold residue from soap dishes and bacteria from the person who used it last. Liquid soaps come in self-contained pumps so each person gets a fresh dose of soap with every pump.

Cleaning The Bathroom

You should clean your bathroom on a consistent basis.   You will need to clean more frequently if you have a large family and a large amount of traffic through the bathroom.

There are a lot of cleaning products out there, but you want to make sure you are choosing the right cleaners for the right surface. Using the wrong cleaning product on certain types of stone will damage them.

You will first need to determine the type of countertop you have. If you have a stone countertop, you will want to use a stone safe cleaner like Marblelife’s Marble and Travertine Cleaner. There is also a stone safe granite cleaner and tile cleaner available. Using the right countertop cleaner will ensure you don’t damage your stone while trying to keep your family healthy.

Another area people tend to overlook is the tub and shower area. Mold, mildew and bacteria love to grow in this environment. To control the growth of these unhealthy elements, clean your tub and shower with a professional grade mold and mildew remover like Marblelife’s Mold & Mildew Remover. This is the same product used by the largest stone care company in the North America.

Now that you have clean countertops and a clean bath and shower, it’s time to move onto the bathroom floor. To keep your floor looking its best, use Marblelife’s Tile & Grout cleaner. This will help keep germs and viruses off your floor and spreading when people walk in and out of your bathroom.

You may want to consider having your bathroom floor sealed with a professional sealer too. Your local Marblelife office can clean and seal this area of you home or even your commercial location to help prevent the spread of germs and viruses. This service has been used by some of the top medical facilities in the country. If it is good enough for them, it is worth doing for your own family. They offer both a penetrating sealer and an advanced sealer that is colored to match your grout. The advantages are that when their ColorSeal Technology is applied you can visually see areas that are sealed or need further attention. This makes this process unique in being able to signal the floor has indeed been properly sealed. Doesn’t hurt that you can also change colors to match you new tiles, so safe, clean and accents well.

These are just a few simple tips to helping you keep your family happy and healthy throughout the cold and flu season.

Marblelife’s Mold and Mildew Remover

This product worked very well on my Italian marble tile. I had serious mold growth in my shower that I couldn’t seem to get rid of no matter how hard I tried. Prior to using this product, I was scrubbing the tile and grout with soft scrub using a scouring sponge and grout brush. Even with all the scrubbing the mold would just come right back. With this product, I just spray the affected area, let it sit for 5 minutes and then rinse it away. This product is great and the amount of effort and time it saves me is well worth the cost.

Eco Friendly? Pet Safe? Kid Safe?

How environmentally safe, are your products? How harmful can they be with small children or pets on the floor after cleaning?

Thank you for asking. Today, more than ever, watching out for the safety of our children and even our animals is becoming a full time effort. We are pleased to inform you that the use of InterCare for cleaning your floor and countertops is very safe for you and yours.

InterCare is a neutral cleaner that does not use acids or harsh chemicals. InterCare uses mild detergents and surfactants similar to that of dish soap. The difference is that where dish soap uses suds to lift debris from the surface resulting in a soapy film being left behind, InterCare uses wetting agents that wet the stone, allowing the release of debris from your stone’s surface. This assures that when used as directed your floors and countertops are left cleaner than ever with a streak-free shine and safe for your whole family.

Got clean floors? Are you sure?

01-16-2014

Using a traditional mop and bucket is the primary cause of dirty floor grout and contributes to the spread of bacteria and viruses.  Since mops don’t really ever get cleaned, they harbor bacteria and viruses that you then spread all over the floors.  When attempting to clean with a mop you continuously push dirty mop water into the grout joints of the floor.  The grout joints are lower than the tiles and are very porous, allowing dirty mop water to continually deposit dirt into the grout.

A fantastic alternative that is not only healthier and more Eco friendly, it results in a cleaner looking, feeling and smelling floor.  The answer is InterCare, a microfiber mop and a bag of cheap microfiber towels.  Why microfiber towels?  Because they clean better than most other towels, hold up better and can be thrown in the laundry machine and reused, which is both economical and Eco friendly.

We recommend using microfiber towels because they perform better than the pads and they are much cheaper.  Our microfiber mops are fitted with Velcro on both the bottom and the top two best hold the towels in place while mopping.

Spray InterCare on the floor and mop with the microfiber towel on the mop.  After doing an area turn over the towel and buff the area dry to leave a clean, streak free shine.  Moving onto the next area, mop the same side of the towel as used to buff the previous area, then change out the towel to buff this area.  Repeat the process to complete the floor.

Spots in the grout can be cleaned with InterCare and a toothbrush, then wipe away the dirty suds with a used towel.

Got Dirty Grout – We have Grout Cleaner!

01-21-2014 Media Post

Annette has a question: We just moved into a new house with ceramic tile floors in the kitchen. They are very dirty and regular cleaning doesn’t help. I think the owners may have used a product such as Mop & Glo on them and they’re filthy from built-up residue which makes the floor look dirty as well as sticky. What will take this residue up and restore the tiles?

ANSWER: Annette, this sounds like a job for MaxOut Tile & Grout Cleaner. The build up on the tile and in the grout can be stubborn to remove. MaxOut is a powerful cleaner yet easy to use and unlike other cleaners MaxOut has a pleasant orange scent. This job sounds like it will require a soft bristle brush for the scrubbing and MARBLELIFE’s Tile & Grout Cleaner to clean off the MaxOut when it’s done working. This should provide you with a very clean, clear floor. The Tile & Grout Cleaner will help you maintain fantastically clean floors with no build up over time.

Cleaning your Granite – How to and what products to use?

Granite Line

THE PROPER CARE OF CLEANING GRANITE & QUARTZ

Step 1 “Cleaning Granite” – Cleaning is the first and most important step in caring for Granite and Quartz.  Make sure to use a granite cleaner that is both safe to not damage your stone as well as one that will actually remove the oils that get trapped in the pores.  Additionally, your cleaner should not leave a residue.  Marblelife’s cleaner is not the only product that is safe and effective. It’s just that over 25 years of worldwide service of natural stone, this is the best we have experienced and what we use.

Step 2 “Sealing Granite” – Sealing your granite or quartz is the second and next most important step in caring for your granite and quartz.  Sealing your granite or quartz provides both protection against stains and helps make step one cleaning easier for you.  Since harmful oils and some substances can stain your beautiful stone, it is important to use a very high quality sealer.

A high quality granite countertop sealer should help keep out damaging oils and substances that would otherwise stain your beautiful countertop or vanity top.  By applying a granite sealer you also help make daily cleaning quicker and easier.  Sealing your granite or quartz should be done in most cases annually and in high use / high traffic areas, maybe twice a year.  Marblelife Granite Countertop Sealer is an extremely high quality sealer that makes sealing your countertop affordable, quick and easy.

Step 3 “Polishing Granite” – This step is not actually polishing granite since this would actually take the use of professional honing pads and a professional’s experience.  The best part is that in the majority of cases that someone insist that their granite needs to be polished, it only needed to have the residue removed.  This can easily be done by you with Marblelife Granite & Quartz Countertop Cleaner and by following the direction below.

After cleaning and sealing granite the only remaining step may be applying a gloss conditioner such as Marblelife’s Granite Countertop Gloss Conditioner.  The truth is that a good portion of granite and quartz will not take a gloss conditioner or “polish”.  The best way to see if your granite will take a gloss conditioner is to try one like Marblelife’s to see if you get a noticeable improvement.  If you do than simply as often or as seldom as you prefer to add that richer wetter look.  If there is no noticeable difference, then you can save yourself the trouble of trying different products because your granite is too dense to accept anything safe that would enhance its appearance.

Repairing Granite or Quartz – You can now see that caring for your granite or quartz is simple yet care must be taken to use the right products and procedures to ensure its best appearance.  Should your stone have cracks, scratches, other damage or require any service beyond that described above, it is recommended that you contact your local Marblelife Service Professional for the best care possible.

What Causes Odors?

What Causes Odors - Marblelife

Watch the video or read below

The things that cause odors in a home are bacteria such as mold, rotting food that’s been left behind, and oils such as from pets or cooking. Fragrances the only mask the smells don’t truly get rid of the odors. Removing these substances from the surfaces of a home is the only way to remove the odors.

For example oils from food and from hands get trapped in the pores of natural stone, grout and any textured surface. Over time oils turn rancid and put off a very unpleasant odor. If you have ever smelled cooking oil once it’s turned rancid you know exactly that smell.
