Safer For You, Safe for Granite and Quartz

Many products today that claim to be safe for use on granite are not. Granite is a resilient surface, but can be damaged by some acids, ammonia and other chemicals in popular cleaners which are also not good for you the one using it.

More than that most other granite cleaners leave a residue that builds up over time nor do they remove all the oils which leave a residue that also builds over time. This results in a dull appearance causing most people to seek polishes to restore the shine. This frequently results in even further damage to the granite as in a countertop it rarely needs to truly be polished.

Healthier for You & Your Family

Many common cleaning products on the market today have unhealthy chemical fumes that are not safe for you, your pets and children. Marblelife’s Granite Countertop Cleaner is free from chemical smells.

More importantly, most cleaners do not remove the oils and grease trapped within the pores of your granite kitchen countertop or bathroom vanity. This allows oils and grease to become rancid and bread bacteria this is unhealthy for your family.

MARBLELIFE’s Granite Countertop Cleaner is superior to other cleaners in its ability to clean deep into the pores where the oils and bacteria are trapped and remove everything that is causing your counters to become unsafe. Leaving only a truly clean clear, streak-free shine and eliminating those unpleasant odors that are associated with rancid oils and grease.

About Granite Countertops

Granite and quartz are beautiful and resilient surfaces popular in kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities.  They are popular because of their beautiful natural appearance as well as their durability.  Both surfaces occur naturally in the earth and are polished to a high shine.  Yet they both still have very small pores and crevasse that can trap oils and debris that can result in a dull appearance.

Both surfaces are resistant to scratches, burns and stains yet can be scratched or burnt in severe cases.  Stains, however, occur more easily and can be at times troublesome to get out.  For this reason, it is highly recommended that you seal your granite and quartz to help reduce the likelihood of stains.

Common Mistakes Cleaning Granite Countertops

There are many common mistakes caring for granite and quartz.  Some of these are using vinegarbleachalcoholdish soaponly waterglass cleaners and other cleaning products.  We have assembled additional information regarding each of these that may be found in the “Quick Tips” section of our Homeowner University.

Some of these can cause directly can damage your stone and others fail to do the job resulting in an unhealthy surface or you attempting other more severe methods of cleaning or polishing that could damage your stone or result in spending money that you didn’t need to.  Please take a minute to review some of these Quick Tips so that you can have a better understanding of how to care for your granite or quartz and can avoid some of these very common pitfalls.

The Proper Care of & Cleaning Granite & Quartz

Step 1 “Cleaning Granite” – Cleaning is the first and most important step in caring for Granite and Quartz.  Making sure to use a granite cleaner that is both safe to not damage your stone as well a one that will remove the oils that get trapped in the pores.  Additionally, your cleaner should not leave a residue.  Marblelife’s cleaner is not the only product that is safe and effective. It’s just that over 25 years of worldwide service of natural stone, this is the best we have experienced and what we use.

Step 2 “Sealing Granite” – Sealing your granite or quartz is the second and next most important step in caring for your granite and quartz.  Sealing your granite or quartz provides both protection against stains and helps make step one cleaning easier for you.  Since harmful oils and some substances can stain your beautiful stone, it is important to use a very high-quality sealer.

A high-quality granite countertop sealer should help keep out damaging oils and substances that would otherwise stain your beautiful countertop or vanity top.  By applying a granite sealer, you also help make daily cleaning quicker and easier.  Sealing your granite or quartz should be done in most cases annually and in high use / high traffic areas, maybe twice a year.  MARBLELIFE Granite Countertop Sealer is an extremely high-quality sealer that makes sealing your countertop affordable, quick and easy.

Step 3 “Polishing Granite” – This step is not actually polishing granite since this would actually take the use of professional honing pads and a professional’s experience.  The best part is, that in many cases, when someone insists that their granite needs to be polished, it only needs to have the residue removed.  This can easily be done by you with Marblelife Granite & Quartz Countertop Cleaner and by following the direction below.

After cleaning and sealing granite the only remaining step may be applying a gloss conditioner such as MARBLELIFE’s Granite Countertop Gloss Conditioner.  The truth is that a good portion of granite and quartz will not take a gloss conditioner or “polish”.  The best way to see if your granite will take a gloss conditioner is to try one like Marblelife’s to see if you get a noticeable improvement.  If you do than simply as often or as seldom as you prefer to add that richer wetter look.  If there is no noticeable difference, then you can save yourself the trouble of trying different products because your granite is too dense to accept anything safe that would enhance it’s appearance.

You may also want to try the MARBLELIFE Granite Countertop Kit that provides you everything you need to care for your Granite and Quartz Countertops.

Repairing Granite or Quartz – You can now see that caring for your granite or quartz is simple, yet care must be taken to use the right products and procedures to ensure its best appearance.  Should your stone have cracks, scratches, and other damage or require any service beyond that described above, it is recommended that you contact your local Marblelife Service Professional for the best care possible.

Directions: MARBLELIFE Granite Countertop Cleaner

Daily Cleaning – Since this granite cleaner works like a liquid sponge, first determine how much “stuff” you are about to clean off.  This will absorb the oils and grease so if the is little to no oil film then just a simple spray, wipe and buff dry is all that is needed for a beautiful streak-free shine.  If there is more oil or grease use more cleaner and rub thoroughly with a rag to loosen up the grease and lift it up into your rag.  In this case it’s best to after wiping off give another light spray, wipe and buff dry to assure that all the oily residue is completely removed from your countertop.  Using a microfiber towel helps to make for an even better experience in reaching a quick easy streak-free shine.

Why Buff Dry? – The importance of buffing dry is this.  This is a high-powered degreaser that is extremely safe for your granite and quartz.  The way it works is by absorbing the oils into itself.  For this reason, after cleaning the surface the cleaner is now carrying debris.  Buffing dry assures that all the now contaminated cleaner is removed from the surface, leaving a wonderful streak-free shine.

Heavy Grease Cleaning – In cases where there is a significant amount of grease, such as after cooking bacon or frying, simply use more cleaner and perhaps a second application.  You’ll need to provide enough cleaner to adequately absorb all the grease from the surface.  After removing all the grease from the surface, use a light spray, wipe and buff dry to finish with a beautiful, healthy, streak-free shine.

Removing Stains – There are many different types of granite and quartz with various degrees of porousness and many types of substances that could stain the stone.  Therefore, there are just as many techniques for removing stains.  The simplest way to remove simple stains is to use Marblelife Granite Countertop Cleaner.  Clean area thoroughly first with this cleaner then stray a puddle of this same cleaner over the stain and let if soak for about 10 minutes.  After allowing to soak scrub with a tooth brush and wipe off with a microfiber towel.  This should resolve most simple, light stains.

Keeping Granite Countertops Looking New

Kitchen countertopMany people think Granite is indestructible and can handle just about anything because it’s stone, and therefore “indestructible.” Granite’s primary threat is not due to its make-up, but rather inappropriate care associated with cleaner manufacturer propaganda and marketing.

Consider this… Americans are much more likely to associate “clean” with a “shiny or glossy” surface appearance, than in other countries. Many cleaner manufacturers have capitalized on this observation to attempt to enhance sales by adding waxes to their product. The only problem is that waxes are soft and sticky, they encapsulate dirt and trap dirt. Over time you have to use the same cleaner to re-dissolve and distribute the wax. Note we stated redistribute not remove, for a very good reason. These waxes build up until your surface looks dull. To the untrained this can look like a surface that needs to be repolished when in fact it needs to have the wax removed, effectively cleaned, to allow the natural polished granite to be seen again. In effect, the shine these products impart are about first depositing wax, and then reflowing the disturbed wax into a shiny surface again…which be definition traps the dirt that was on it. What does wax have to do with cleaning? NOTHING. It is entirely present from a marketing position and does nothing to enhance the health of your home or the cleanliness of the surface, but because gloss sells they sell wax cleaners.

At MARBLELIFE we are purists. Perhaps because we use these cleaners day in and day out as we service home owners across the country and seek to deliver WOW results as rapidly as possible, while leaving behind a clean beautiful surface. We don’t want waxes, when we are working on a polished surface second only to diamond in harness. We want an oil, dirt and WAX-free surface. As such MARBLELIFE GRANITE CLEANER focuses on CLEANING by removing the dirt and oils that dull the appearance of your granite. If this cleaner does not deliver a wow result, it means you may need a professional visit to strip away the build-up and restore your counter to its natural condition. It’s rare that granite needs to be polished due to its hardness (whereas marble needs periodic polishing to address damage caused by its acid sensitivity – but that’s another blog).

That said, nothing creates more tears for a granite counter owner than the appearance of a ‘Stain.” Sealing your counter as a preventative measure is your stain-insurance Like all insurance we hate to pay for it until you need it, then its priceless. Similarly here when one considers that stains require a surface to be removed from use for days as poultices are applied and re-applied with no guarantee off success. This can quickly become a case of replacement versus remedy. The worst part of these situations is having to inform someone that if they had continued to seal their granite annually or at worst every other year they could have not just prevented the stain, but more importantly the anguish, frustration, and decision as to whether to replace or attempt the stain removal. From the company that does more stone restoration than anyone in North America we cannot recommend strongly enough that granite counter owner seal their granite (unless they know it has been encapsulated, which has become more common over the past 5 years). MARBLELIFE’s easy to use wipe-on wipe-off spray applied GRANITE SEALER is the fastest route to managing this risk.

How And Why You Should Seal Your Granite Counters

Granite countertops can add some major beauty points to any home. That’s why you want to ensure you’re taking good care of these surfaces to help them reach their utmost potential. You’re probably cleaning and disinfecting your granite, but are you taking further steps to protect the color, clean, and shine? Maybe yes, maybe no. Whether or not you are taking these steps, you can benefit from learning about the granite sealing process and how it can help your granite surfaces.

Cleaning Precautions

One thing all people who take care of granite should know is that acidic cleaners are your worst enemy. If you’re already cleaning/disinfecting your surface with acidic cleaners, then before making any moves, switch to a non-acidic substitute. Sealing your granite won’t help any if you’re going to use a counterproductive cleaner. Moreover, you want to look for a cleaner that travels into the pores of the granite and will lift out the oils trapped inside without leaving a residue. We suggest MARBLELIFE’s Granite & Quartz Cleaner.

Why Seal Your Granite?

Sealing your granite is an essential part of the granite maintenance process. Just like with any stone surface, there are small pores in which bacteria, liquids, and dirt can seep into, damaging your surface slowly from the inside. Sealing your countertops will help keep those foreign materials out. Your granite will be far less susceptible to bacteria or stains from red wine, coffee, juice, etc.

If your granite is more porous or light in color, it’s imperative that you make sure the surface is sealed soon as possible, as the stains can be very hard to extract without professional help.

How To Seal Your Granite

Unless you’re 100 percent sure that the granite has been sealed properly within the last year, you should seal your granite. It’s not expensive, it’s easy, and it could save you from a much more time consuming and expensive issue if an unexpected liquid drop occurs.

Apply a granite sealer at least once a year or twice for areas that receive a lot of traction. No matter how quality your sealer may be, the coating is bound to slowly deteriorate as your cleaner emulsifies and disinfects.

Sealing your granite should be simple and straightforward. Don’t purchase anything too complicated. MARBLELIFE products are made by the professionals who are experts in stone care and we provide a simple micro-mist spray that makes for a quick and effective seal. With MARBLELIFE’s Granite Sealer, just spray the counter evenly, then allow to sit for a few minutes. Before the sealer dries, buff off the excess and you’re done!

Conclusion

To summarize, be sure to take effective care of your granite countertops with acid-free products. Any stone surface needs proper maintenance to be sure they stay beautiful and compliment your home. Furthermore, for the counters to remain in their best condition, seal them and help them fight off foreign elements.

MARBLELIFE’s team of experts can also help you if you have any further questions or need assistance with projects big and small.

Why Should I Seal My Granite Counter-tops?

Your granite countertops make a beautiful statement. They can retain their beauty indefinitely with proper maintenance, including sealing.

Granite is a porous rock with small dips and crevices that can trap substances. These substances can make your countertops dull-looking and omit a rancid odor. Some foods such as vegetable oil and flour can be removed easily with a quality cleaner such as Marblelife Granite & Quartz Countertop Cleaner. Other foods and household products such as coffee, red wine, red sports drinks, barbecue sauce, and make-up can stain granite. Granite has different densities. The denser a piece of granite is, the less likely it is to stain. The same is true for colors of granite. A lighter colored piece of granite will stain more easily than a darker colored one. To help prevent these stains a sealer needs to be applied.

A sealer places a safe, transparent layer into the pores of the granite to block any substances from getting in. It’s recommended to re-seal your granite surfaces at least once a year. For high use areas a sealer can be reapplied every six months. Sealers are meant to wear off a little at a time. This is best for the granite surfaces.

Applying a sealer is important, even for new granite products. A Sealer may have been applied to your granite by the fabricator that cut and polished it. It may have been sealed by the installer when your countertops were installed. If you purchased a pre-owned home, the prior owner may have applied a sealer. Unfortunately you don’t know what type of sealer was used, when, or how it was applied. Applying a high-quality sealer made specifically for granite such as the Marblelife Granite Countertop Sealer will ensure your granite is sealed properly.

There are several steps involved in properly sealing granite surfaces. First step is to give it a good deep cleaning. Using a cleaner, such as Marblelife Granite & Quartz Countertop Cleaner, spray a generous amount onto the surface of the countertops. Scrub with a soft brush and then let set for ten minutes. Scrub again, wipe up, and then repeat the process. After wiping up the second time, lightly spray the surface, then wipe up with a micro-fiber towel. Flip the towel over and buff the countertop dry. Now you can apply the sealer. Spray enough of the sealer on  the countertop to thoroughly wet the surface. Rub this in with a paper towel or rag. Keep the surface moist with the sealer for ten minutes. It’s important the sealer doesn’t dry before the ten minutes are up. After ten minutes use a clean cloth or rag to wipe excess sealer up and buff dry. It will take 72 hours for your granite to cure. Do not clean or expose to chemicals, oils, or food prior to then.

Sealing is an important step in the maintenance of your granite. Using only quality products specifically made for granite, the natural beauty of your stone countertops can shine through.

The CLEANER CONSPIRACY – Cleaners that don’t Clean…and how to avoid being scammed.

We love a shiny clean surface.  In fact, we subconsciously attribute shiny with clean.  Perhaps its in knowing that dirt will interfere with a naturally shiny surface.  The fact, is however, this affinity of gloss can be used against us, and is by many unscrupulous cleaner manufacturers.

If clean is the absence of dirt, then naturally we would be disappointed if someone told us a product that was sold to us a cleaner was actually depositing an oil or a wax to the surface.  It maybe shiny, but it is certainly not clean.

DID YOU KNOW…that 1 in 5 homeowners who thinks they are cleaning are actually waxing their counters?

Looks nice, clean and shiny…right up until the wax begins to look hazy and oily at which point the cleaner “does not work.”  Worse the honest to goodness cleaners don’t either, cause they are not designed to remove a coating.  They are designed to clean granite…not clean wax or worse yet to remove wax.

Now the poor homeowner has a bigger problem, but one they don’t even realize is going on, because they never intended to wax their counter.  They need to first remove this unwanted deposit before they will ever be satisfied with the “cleanliness” of their surface.  This either requires a professional stripping (no not stripper) treatment from a professional stone craftsman or a quick treatment of ammonia or acetone, it depends on the wax that has been deposited. A quick dab will tell you.  If you see a shiny clean surface underneath you are on the right track.  It only needs to be PRE-CLEANED once, after which the focus becomes how to keep it truly clean – MARBLELIFE GRANITE & QUARTZ CLEANER.  This product is wax free.  Its designed to clean you granite counters, not hide them.

It gets worse.  When a wax is deposited by a cleaner it builds up over time.  Being soft and heat sensitive it gets disrupted by day to day material and kitchen heat.  When it does guess what you have to use MORE “cleaner” and more frequently in order to soften and re-smear the wax around to get it to LOOK clean again.  Of course, what is really happening is we are depositing more ON TOP of what was on the counter.  The ingredients used to keep the wax in solution are able to soften and reflow the wax on your counter so that it “looks” clean again…ie shiny…right up until its too thick a coating.  So now we have to use more in order to keep this soft surface looking “shiny.”

It gets worse…Eventually, just like on a floor, the wax gets so thick that it becomes hazy.  A hazy surface will look like it has grease or oil on it, but it is resistant to a degreaser…because you guessed it, its not an oil or grease.

How often does this happen?  1 in 5 purchases of a cleaner are purchased because their granite is no longer “shiny” clean.

Now what do you do?  Particularly if you don’t know what you are dealing with.  If you don’t know you begin a review of cleaners…but none gives the result you want.  Why?  Because your counter never lost it shine, it’s just hiding behind the wax buildup.  We need to remove the wax.  In effect, we need to re-strip the surface to get back to a clean granite surface which can then be maintained in an honest manner without introducing oils and gloss to play on our desire for shiny, create an artificial need to over apply and over use the cleaner, as it continues to deposit more material.  Once we have removed the wax from the prior cleaner, the surface can be maintained in an honest manner, allowing the granite’s natural polished surface to shine forth.

So how does this happen?  Either the manufacturer doesn’t realize the problem they are creating, or does and just wants to sell juice.  Either way we have brought the wrong product and partner home with us.  What we really want is results from someone knowledgeable about what is happening (so they can save me time, money and provide a healthy easy to clean surface) and a product that can JUST clean, not make me believe its clean.

A little ammonia or acetone will quickly tell you if your granite counters are suffering from this malaise and can look better than they already do.  (Be careful not to do this on a plastic counter such as Corian as these solvents can soften plastic).  If not sure, call a professional craftsman.  MARBLELIFE® can assist you here.  You can pop the shine, with LESS, versus with MORE.

What you want is MARBELIFE GRANITE & QUARTZ CLEANER.  Help a friend.  Life gets a lot easier when we know what is REALLY going on.  Dispel the myths.  Then order the product that is designed to maintain these surfaces, was formulated by the largest company in North America focused on restoring these surfaces, and has addressed more of these problems than anyone else.  How are you going to know if the next cleaner is wax-free when the manufacture is using it to impart a false result?  You want a true clean.

Step 1“Cleaning Granite” – Cleaning is the first and most important step in caring for Granite and Quartz.

Step 2“Sealing Granite” – Sealing your granite or quartz is the second and next most important step in caring for your granite and quartz.

Step 3“Polishing Granite” – This step is not actually polishing granite since this would actually take the use of professional honing pads and a professional’s experience.

Healthier For You & Safer for Granite and Quartz

Many products today that claim to be safe for use on granite are not. Granite is a resilient surface, but can be damaged by some acids, ammonia and other chemicals in popular cleaners which are also not good for you the one using it.

Using products with heavy chemical fumes is not good for humans.  We have made this sealer a low odor product for your health benefit.  It does have a faint solvent smell, however it is far less than most others.

More importantly, less effective sealers allow oils and grease  to become trapped within the pores of your granite kitchen countertop or bathroom vanity. Oils and grease then become rancid and breed bacteria this is unhealthy for your family.

Marblelife Care Products help provide you the peace of mind that you are taking the best care possible of your Granite or Quartz surfaces and doing your best to help keep your family and pets healthy and safe.

About Granite Countertops & Vanities

Beautiful and resilient.  These are two of the biggest reasons behind the popularity of granite and quartz in kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities.  These beautiful natural surfaces resist scratches and burns and don’t easily stain.  Many granite surfaces can however be stained by common things like red wine, red sports drink, coffee, bar-b-que sauce, ketchup, mustard, and makeup just to name a few.

Granite has pores which are very small pits and holes that can trap oils, food and bacteria and allow in materials that can result in a stain.  Keeping these pores clean is the primary objective in caring for granite countertops and vanities.

Imagine a large piece of white coral, too large to pickup.  This is kind of what granite looks like under a microscope.  Picture rubbing old dark bacon grease on the piece of coral and working it in over a long period of time.  Now try to clean the grease out of the coral.  Since this is an analogy of your kitchen granite countertop a pressure washer is out of the question.  You also can use harmful solvents.  Again, keep in mind that this is the same surface that you prepare food on.

This analogy is a good picture of what you are up against in cleaning granite countertops.  What’s worse is what happens to the grease after it’s been there for months or more.  The answer is that it becomes rancid and gives off an odor.  It also harbors bacteria that are now living in the rancid grease.  This is the biggest reason why you want a high quality granite cleaner and not the common big name or store bought stuff.  Also the trapped dark grease had made the once white coral look dull and dark.

The reason we recommend our Marblelife Granite Cleaner, Sealer and Gloss Conditioner is not just because it our brand, it is because after 25 years of servicing granite these are the best we can find.  We believe that you, your family and pets deserve a clean, safe and brilliant looking countertop to enjoy.  More than just selling products, we hope that we can help make your like just that much better.

About Quartz Countertops & Vanities

Granite and Quartz are very similar in that granite contains quartz along with feldspar and mica.  These are igneous rocks that were formed through the cooling of magma in the earth’s crust.  Most of our mountains are largely granite.  The difference in caring for these two comes largely when quartz is combined with man-made synthetic materials as this now becomes a hybrid product, part natural and part man made.  This makes a significant change in how to care for the two surfaces.

When quartz is combined with a synthetic material like in Silestone as a good brand example, the pores of the quartz are now filled with the synthetic material.  This means that granite sealers or granite polishes are of no benefit as the pores, they need to function and protect are no longer available.

Man-made quartz countertops are a great option for some and offer a more uniform appearance and are less likely to stain, though they are not stain-proof.  A good quartz cleaner is the best and only real product that you should need with quartz countertops.  Marblelife Granite & Quartz Countertop Cleaner is the best cleaner for granite, natural quartz and man-made quartz materials.

Common Mistakes Cleaning Granite Countertops & Quartz

You may be surprised to learn that there are common mistakes that occur thousands of times a day by people caring for natural stone based on what a label said or someone’s had told them to do.  We know this because we are the ones that they call once the damage had been done and they need help.  We want you to have a pleasant experience with your granite countertop or quartz vanity and are happy to share these mistakes or misconceptions with you.

Though granite and quartz are not as easily damages by mild acids like marble, they can still be damaged by the use of some acids.  Glass clears often contain ammonia this is not good for granite and many common household cleaners and multipurpose cleaners can be harmful for your granite surface.

Why do I need a fancy cleaner for my granite or quartz?  This is a frequent question.  The truth is that you can clean your granite with all kinds of common cleaners and home made products with what will seem like not problem for some time, until you eventually notice the problem.  Don’t be fooled by this myth that popular cleaning products and home made products or just good old fashion dish soap are OK.  They are not.

We have put together a section of common myths regarding household cleaning of sensitive surfaces called “Quick Tips” in our Homeowner University.  These are to help you avoid falling into these very common traps and eventually needing repairs.  Some that you will want to note regarding granite and quartz are the truth about vinegar, bleach, alcohol, dish soap, using only water, common cleaners and multifunction products.

The Proper Care of Cleaning Granite & Quartz

Step 1 “Cleaning Granite” – Cleaning is the first and most important step in caring for Granite and Quartz.  Make sure to use a granite cleaner that is both safe to not damage your stone as well as one that will actually remove the oils that get trapped in the pores.  Additionally, your cleaner should not leave a residue.  Marblelife’s cleaner is not the only product that is safe and effective. A high quality granite countertop sealer should help keep out damaging oils and substances that would otherwise stain your beautiful countertop or vanity top.  By applying a granite sealer you also help make daily cleaning quicker and easier.  Sealing your granite or quartz should be done in most cases annually and in high use / high traffic areas, maybe twice a year.  Marblelife Granite Countertop Sealer is an extremely high quality sealer that makes sealing your countertop affordable, quick and easy.

Step 3 “Polishing Granite” – This step is not actually polishing granite since this would actually take the use of professional honing pads and a professional’s experience.  The best part is that in the majority of cases that someone insist that their granite needs to be polished, it only needed to have the residue removed.  This can easily be done by you with Marblelife Granite & Quartz Countertop Cleaner and by following the direction below.

Step 1 “Deep Granite Cleaning” – This is the first and most important step.  Carefully follow the instructions found on the Marblelife Granite Countertop Cleaner page.

Step 2 “Applying the Sealer” – This is the second important step.  Please visit the Marblelife Granite Countertop Sealer page for helpful information and instruction that will help to insure you have a pleasant granite sealing experience.  Sealer is not needed if your quartz is combined with a synthetic resin.

Step 3 “Applying the Gloss Conditioner” – Polishing granite or more correctly said applying a gloss conditioner to your granite countertops of vanities is the final optional step.  This step is not needed in the proper care of granite.  It is only done to enhance the color and shine of your granite.  Remember that not all granite will take a polish or conditioner.  Marblelife Granite Countertop Gloss Conditioner is an very affordable way to determine how your granite will look after a gloss conditioner.  If it doesn’t take there is no harm to the granite and you can save your time and money on experimenting with a multitude of disappointing product experiments.  Gloss conditioners are not used on man-made synthetic versions of quartz.  Please visit the Marblelife Granite Countertop Gloss Conditioner page for more specific directions on the use of this product.

Removing Stains – There are many different types of granite and quartz with various degrees of porousness and many types of substances that could stain the stone.  Therefore, there are just as many techniques for removing stains.  The simplest way to remove simple stains is to use Marblelife Granite Countertop Cleaner.  Clean area thoroughly first with this cleaner then spray a puddle of this same cleaner over the stain and let it soak for about 10 minutes.  After allowing to soak scrub with a tooth brush and wipe off with a microfiber towel.  This should resolve most simple, light stains.  For more difficult stain removal contact Marblelife Customer Care at 1-866-653-9737 or CustomerCare@Marblelife.com for help determining the best method for removing the specific stain on your specific granite.

Granite Sealer – DIY Sealing Granite is easy than you think!

Granite Countertop Sealer

Should I seal my granite countertops? That is a very common question to which the answer is yes. Here is the answer why. Granite and quartz are porous, which means that they have very small holes which “stuff” settles into. Some stuff like vegetable oil or flower can settle into the pores and can be removed quite easily with a high quality cleaner like Marblelife Granite & Quartz Countertop Cleaner. However the other stuff like coffee, red wine, makeup, red sports drink, bar-b-Que sauce and alike can stain granite and quartz. Some stains can be very difficult to remove while others more easily. Some granite is denser and less likely to stain while others are more porous and therefore more likely to stain. Lighter granite is even more likely to stain.

Some granite may have been sealed from the fabricator that cut and polished it. The installer may have applied a sealer or the previous homeowner. What sealer was used? Was it applied properly? What stage of wearing off is the sealer in? How susceptible is your granite to stains? These are at times difficult if not impossible questions to answer. For this reason it is recommended across the board to apply a sealer to your granite or quartz.
