MARBLELIFE® Stone Sealer

About This Product

MARBLELIFE Stone Sealer is a fantastic combination of the strongest features of a superior quality sealer, without the negative features of many popular sealers.  For you technical folks, Marblelife Stone Sealer is both a hydrophobic and oilophobic fluoropolymer impregnating sealer.  Simply put, it’s an ultra high quality sealer that penetrates into the stone and repels both water based and oil based items.  This is healthy for your stone, provides breathability, is durable, long lasting and provides superior sealing protection.

Additionally, it is easy to use and low odor compared to most solvent based sealers that have strong VOC’s.  It penetrates into your marble, or other natural stone, providing protection under the surface.  It adheres a safe, durable, clear polymer material into the pores of the marble which keeps staining materials from entering and staining the stone.  It also helps keep out unhealthy bacteria, germs, oils and dirt which are not good for your marble or your health.  As an added feature, Marblelife Stone Sealer helps make cleaning quicker and easier.  Moreover, it is easier to use than other solvent based sealers allowing virtually anyone to apply a quality application without streaking.

Product Directions:

It is highly recommended that before applying a sealer, that you do a Deep Cleaning of your marble, granite, travertine, terrazzo, slate or other natural stone.  This gets the oils and dirt out of the pores which keeps them from being sealed in and allows the sealer to penetrate better into all the stone’s pores.

Deep Cleaning Marble, Travertine & Terrazzo Floors

Needed Supplies:

Step 1 – Deep Cleaning

It is recommended before applying a sealer that you first do a deep cleaning as detailed in the above “Deep Cleaning” sections.  After deep cleaning, we recommended that you allow the stone surface to dry for at least a few hours before proceeding with applying a sealer.

Step 2 – Wipe On & Soak

After your stone surface is clean and dry, use a clean dry cloth or sponge to apply the sealer onto the surface.  Pour MARBLELIFE Stone Sealer either onto your clean dry cloth or pour an ounce directly onto the surface and spread around.  Apply enough sealer so that the entire surface area is wet.  Once entirely wet with sealer, allow to soak for 10 minutes.  Make sure to keep all portions of the stone wet for the entire 10 minutes.  If any area begins to dry, rub the wet sealer around the area to keep the area wet.

Step 3 – Buff Off

After soaking for 10 minutes, use a different clean dry cloth to buff dry the entire surface.  Buffing dry assures that no sealer is allowed to dry on the surface causing streaks.  If any streaks do occur, simply re-wet the streaks with sealer and rub out the streaks, then buff dry.

Addressing Shower Mold in Marble and Tile Showers.

The biggest issue in dealing with mold in a marble or stone shower, is that you can’t use the typical aggressive products designed for killing mold because they kill your stone shower as well.  Stone showers are beautiful and have wonderful character.  Keeping them looking that way means that you must be very careful with the products you use, so that you don’t actually cause damage.  Vinegar, masonary cleaners, hard water removers are all acidic and can etch marble, travertine, limestone and concrete, and will remove seals from stone and grout.  This means all cleaners need to be non-acidic, at a minimum.

Mold and Mildew Management

Mold likes to live in a dark, warm, moist environment with an ample food source of organic material.  This makes a shower a nearly ideal spot for mold to grow.  The small pores of natural stone and grout are great places for mold to live and avoid your cleaning efforts.  Most cleaning products limit themselves to addressing what is on the surface.  Porous materials like stone and grout need a little help breaking the water tension that would normally leave a cleaner on the surface.  MARBLELIFE Mold & Mildew Stain Remover is formulated to be stone-safe and to break water tension to penetrate and flush stone and grout pores.

To effectively remove the mold stains from your stone shower, you need a product that is both safe for your stone and able to penetrate into the pores of the stone and grout to remove the visible and hidden mold stains at their source.

Freshness Matters

Mold and Mildew Stain Removers tend to lose their effacy with exposure to light and time.
As such, this is a purchase area where buying in bulk to save can negatively impact cleaning performance over time.
Instead consider right-sizing your purchase and purchasing on a regular basis.

MARBLELIFE Mold & Mildew Stain Remover tests as much as 6-times more effective than store-bought brands that have languished on shelves for months before your purchase.  MARBLELIFE products just-in-time manufacturing maximizes performance at time of application.
Try it yourself and see what everyone is talking about.  It works.

In the near future, you may receive either a traditional or our new round bottle.

WARNING:  Do not use this product on floors or steps as it can make the surface too slippery, possibly resulting in a slip and fall.

Product Directions:

Before using MARBLELIFE’s Gloss Conditioner you should consider whether you have sealed your natural stone.  Sealing your stone is highly recommended and should be done before applying a gloss conditioner as a gloss conditioner will interfere with the adherence of a sealer.

Needed Supplies: (see Marble Counter & Table Top Kits)

Step 1 – Clean

First clean the area thoroughly with MARBLELIFE Marble & Travertine Cleaner to assure the all the oils and dirt have been removed from within the pores of the marble.  (If a deep cleaning procedure has not been done on this surface, it is highly recommended that the marble is first deep cleaned and then sealed before being conditioned.)

Step 2 – Wipe On & Soak

After cleaning the surface as described in Step 1, shake bottle and apply MARBLELIFE Marble Gloss Conditioner to clean cloth then apply to the marble surface in a circular rubbing motion.  The objective is to work as much of the Gloss Conditioner into the marble as possible.  Then allow the Gloss Conditioner to soak on the counter for an hour.

Step 3 – Buff Off

After Step 2, use a clean dry cloth to buff off the excess Gloss Conditioner from the marble surface.  The surface may have an oily film for a few days until the conditioner has completely been absorbed into the marble.

Debunked Myth: Cleaning With Water

Water is an amazing element on this Earth. It houses animals, cleans, hydrates, and gives life. However, as amazing as this element is, you can’t depend on it for everything. One of the things you can’t depend on water for is cleaning your natural stone countertops. The myth that using water for your marble and granite countertops will be safe is actually false. Would you wash your dishes with only water? Or perhaps take a shower with just water? Well, of course not, unless you wanted to do a bad job at cleaning. The same goes for water and natural stone. Read on to learn more about the alternatives.

Debunking The Water Myth

Firstly, water is not something that can remove oil and grease, the most common elements that get stuck in between the pores and crevices of your countertops and grout. A build up over time can cause stains, dulling, and an odor.

Secondly, water doesn’t kill bacteria or viruses. These pathogens live in and among the oils trapped within the pores of the countertop and can be a health hazard to anyone interacting with it.

Thirdly, water cannot remove residue left on the surface and results in a dulling surface. Then, individuals will run out to the store and typically buy a generic polish or something similar to fix the issue. However, these polishes just contribute to the compounding of residue on the surface and in the pores leading to eventual damage.

In conclusion, water is doing nothing and if anything it’s actually damaging your stone surfaces.

What’s The Solution?

We’re not here to just tell you that your cleaning methods are incorrect; we’re also here to provide a solution. Simply applying the same methods will not yield your desired results. What you’ll need is some quality cleaning products that actually adhere to the facts. You want something that will emulsify oils so that they can be lifted away, along with other undesirable elements.

Instead you’ll want a quality and proven product that the professionals swear by. Those products are from MARBLELIFE. Why? MARBLELIFE has over 25 years of experience in stone care and hosts North America’s largest network of certified craftsmen. That means they’ve been developing their methods and products for a long time and have seen them be widely successful.

And finally, you can use MARBLELIFE’s Marble Polish for any natural stone countertop to bring back any lost shine! They have a product for all of your stone care needs. Plus, if you don’t have time, or simply don’t have a desire to fix up your countertops, then they can service your stone for you.

Whichever route you go, just be sure it doesn’t involve cleaning with water. Don’t put your stone at risk, and most importantly don’t put your health at risk.

Clean your countertops and floors right with MARBLELIFE products!

Healthy Bathrooms Healthy Families

Have you heard people saying the bathroom is the busiest room in your house? They could be right. Some popular medical websites state the average bathroom contains thousands of germs and viruses.

Hang on though! Don’t go and lock your family out of the bathroom just yet. There are a few simple steps you can do to prevent the spread of germs and viruses.

Healthy Smiles

First off, keep your toothbrushes dry and clean. Be sure to keep it up on a countertop, away from any splashing water where it can get contaminated. Also, keep each toothbrush separated from the others to prevent cross contamination. If the toothbrushes touch, that can increase the odds of germs spreading from brush to brush. Be sure to regularly replace your toothbrush for a new one as well.

Raising The Bar

Switch out your bar soap with liquid soap.   Experts say bar soap can hold residue from soap dishes and bacteria from the person who used it last. Liquid soaps come in self-contained pumps so each person gets a fresh dose of soap with every pump.

Cleaning The Bathroom

You should clean your bathroom on a consistent basis.   You will need to clean more frequently if you have a large family and a large amount of traffic through the bathroom.

There are a lot of cleaning products out there, but you want to make sure you are choosing the right cleaners for the right surface. Using the wrong cleaning product on certain types of stone will damage them.

You will first need to determine the type of countertop you have. If you have a stone countertop, you will want to use a stone safe cleaner like Marblelife’s Marble and Travertine Cleaner. There is also a stone safe granite cleaner and tile cleaner available. Using the right countertop cleaner will ensure you don’t damage your stone while trying to keep your family healthy.

Another area people tend to overlook is the tub and shower area. Mold, mildew and bacteria love to grow in this environment. To control the growth of these unhealthy elements, clean your tub and shower with a professional grade mold and mildew remover like Marblelife’s Mold & Mildew Remover. This is the same product used by the largest stone care company in the North America.

Now that you have clean countertops and a clean bath and shower, it’s time to move onto the bathroom floor. To keep your floor looking its best, use Marblelife’s Tile & Grout cleaner. This will help keep germs and viruses off your floor and spreading when people walk in and out of your bathroom.

You may want to consider having your bathroom floor sealed with a professional sealer too. Your local Marblelife office can clean and seal this area of you home or even your commercial location to help prevent the spread of germs and viruses. This service has been used by some of the top medical facilities in the country. If it is good enough for them, it is worth doing for your own family. They offer both a penetrating sealer and an advanced sealer that is colored to match your grout. The advantages are that when their ColorSeal Technology is applied you can visually see areas that are sealed or need further attention. This makes this process unique in being able to signal the floor has indeed been properly sealed. Doesn’t hurt that you can also change colors to match you new tiles, so safe, clean and accents well.

These are just a few simple tips to helping you keep your family happy and healthy throughout the cold and flu season.

Natural Stone Care Made Easy

Stone surfaces are in high demand these days not just for their durability, but for their beauty as well.  With such unique and beautiful counter tops, floors, and outdoor surfaces, it’s essential to use cleaners made especially for those surfaces.  Grocery store cleaning products seem inexpensive, but they are mostly acidic and can cause damage to your natural stone surfaces.  Tile and grout needs special care as well.

If you have chosen marble, granite, or travertine for your home or business, acidic cleaners can cause a variety of problems for the stone and the tile and grout.  Did you know that acid is used to remove excess grout from brick and tile? So, why use an acidic cleaner when it actually is damaging your surface?

Acidic cleaners also cause dullness because the acids dissolve calcium carbonate which is the chemical the grout is made of. Acids also cause fading of color and brightness to the surfaces. The only solution is using an acid-free cleaner, and MARBLELIFE® cleaners are all acid free. We take great care to make safe, non-toxic cleaners that enhance your natural stone surfaces. Our cleaners will bring your stone back to life. Our products are also affordable.

Our products were developed over many years by experts in stone care. A lot of research goes into each product. We use safe solvents and surfactants that clean, degrease, and shine. Our products are used in commercial buildings, hotels, and other businesses as well as in residences.  Once you discover the effectiveness of our products, you’ll never use a store-bought product again.

Remember, MARBLELIFE® doesn’t just sell you the products. We are here for you long after the sale to keep your natural stone surfaces looking brand new.  You have our guarantee!

Debunked Myth: Cleaning With Alcohol

We all pick up some tips here and there when it comes to cleaning. Whether you learned from your parents, a YouTube video, or a friend, you probably have a good sense of what effective cleaning entails. But have you ever cleaned with alcohol? It’s used in medicine, science, and of course at the bar. It seems like a strong chemical that you might assume is effective for killing bacteria on your stone surfaces. However, on its own, alcohol is of no real benefit. If you’re cleaning with just alcohol, then it’s time to stop.

Debunking The Myth

Alcohol assists in wetting and loosening some materials, releasing adhesives and some bacteria from the surface. But, alcohol quickly evaporates and if it’s left to dry it will redeposit the dissolved materials into the surface. On top of that, alcohol has a property that speeds up the drying of a surface. So, really alcohol is not much help when it comes to cleaning stone surfaces.

You may ask, “Well doesn’t it at least kill some germs?” That’s a reasonable question because alcohol can and does kill germs on the surface, however because it dries quickly it leaves the carcass behind. Essentially, it gets the job done and then undoes itself.

Alcohol isn’t effective for cleaning on its own, however with the right amount of additives, a strong cleaner can be created and take advantage of the chemical properties. However, alcohol is effective in breaking down your marble or travertine surfaces. Spills and drink rings that create imperfections in your beautiful countertops are a direct result of the alcoholic properties. So stay away from alcohol (on its own) if you want your amazing surfaces to stay amazing.

The Alternative

Instead of trying all kinds of household alternatives, there is an easy and inexpensive way to successfully clean and maintain your stone. The answer is all in the product. You want a product that can remove oils, break down water deposits, and is safe for your stone. You want a product that is engineered by the experts and has been constantly proven as successful. You want MARBLELIFE.

MARBLELIFE has a diverse set of cleaning and maintenance products for all of your stone care needs. The products can help you with every step of the process, from everyday cleaning to stain and scratch removal. Plus, the cleaning products are developed to actually pick up the dirt, debris, and bacteria, not just to spread and move it around. Furthermore, the cleaners are made specifically for your type of stone, making for a safe and beautiful finish without acidic stains or break down.

Stop looking for different ways to clean, because MARBLELIFE is the easiest and least expensive solution. Visit MARBLELIFE’s website and get started with your basic cleaner, sealer, polish, and conditioner. You’ll be on your way to maintaining beautiful stone which makes for a beautiful home!

Preparing Your Home For The Holidays

It’s that time of year again. The holidays are quickly approaching and soon it’ll be time to have family and friends over in celebration. Before you can celebrate, you will of course have to prepare. One way you can prepare is by cleaning your home. You want your home to look its absolute best since it is a reflection of who you are. One area that often gets overlooked when deep cleaning your home is your stone flooring! Though one of the biggest aspects of your home, stone floors are often disregarded, resulting in unclean and unpolished floors.

Perhaps it’s because not many people know how to properly clean their floors. As long as there isn’t any dirt or stains it seems fine. However, it takes more than sweeping and wiping up spills to restore the beauty of your floor. Knowledge is power when it comes to maintaining your stone floors. So, just in time for the holidays, here are some curated tips of value that will serve you in your pursuit of clean and polished floors.

Sand and Stone Don’t Mix Well

Abrasives are not what you want if you want to maintain the beauty and worth of your stone floors. Thus, sand, grit, and dirt are damaging and should be removed right away. If left, these abrasives can cause scratching on your floor and will slowly depreciate its overall appearance.

You can easily combat sand and dirt from scratching up your stone if you place mats at entrances to the home. The results will be even better if you park your shoes at the door.

If you wish you had known about this issue a long time ago, then there’s still time to do some damage control. Use a trusted and professional stone polish that will easily help you eliminate existing scratch imperfections. A suggested polish brand is Marblelife’s Marble Polish, for those of you who have marble flooring in need of a solution.

Cleaning Can Be Complicated

When it comes to stone floors, you’ll want to employ certain methods and avoid others. In other words, you’ll want to clean up spills immediately and clean the floor regularly. Use a marble floor cleaner instead of detergent and be sure to rinse well, as too much cleaner or soap can leave a film and cause streaks.

Damp cleaning your floors can decently maintain the beauty and look of your stone, however there are better products you can use. Products like MARBLELIFE’s Intercare cleaners are manufactured specifically for stone unlike general cleaners. You don’t want to use general cleaners that contain acid, lemon juice, or vinegar on marble, limestone, or travertine. Professional cleaners are made with this understanding in mind. With the right tools you will avoid damage, stains, and dulling, but maintain all of the clean.

Let The Professionals Take Care Of It

Alternatively, if you are on a time crunch and have to address other issues before your guests arrive, then you could hire a professional. Let them clean and polish your floors to perfection like they were meant to be. Your floors will shine and radiate with color or shine prompting you and your guests to be impressed. The professionals at MARBLELIFE have over 25 years of experience with stone care, so you know whom to turn to for complete satisfaction.

Don’t forget about your flooring this holiday season! Have it cleaned and polished to perfection with the best cleaning methods available for your stone floors. Visit MARBLELIFE’s website for more information on how you can properly clean and polish your natural stone floors.

Debunked Myth: Cleaning With Dish Soap Is Not Okay

Men cleaning the dishes

You’ve probably often contemplated the methods of your cleaning and perhaps you continued to clean with those same techniques despite your apprehensions. Because cleaning is still cleaning even if it isn’t the best way, right? Something is better than nothing, right? Well, not exactly. If you’re going to keep your place clean, then you might as well take a few minutes to learn the proper ways to disinfect and clean to avoid long-term damages or illness. One serious cleaning mistake you could be making has to do with dish soap. It can damage and leave residue, so you’ll ultimately want to learn what the alternative is.

Dish Soap Won’t Get The Job Done

Dish soap is best used for its purpose: washing dishes. If you’re using it to clean your countertops simply because the product is readily available, then you are allowing for residue to build up and inconveniently dull your granite, marble, and grout. This is due to dish soap containing oils that will be trapped in the porous openings of your stone surfaces.

Even if you rinse a rag and sponge several times, you’ll notice that there is enough residue so that suds can be created time and time again. Dish soap is made for when there is excess water to be used, but counter cleaning isn’t a place for water, unless you enjoy flooding of your floors and surrounding pieces. The residue will build up much like soap scum in a shower even if it isn’t visible and dull your surfaces over time. This is not positively contributing to your home’s aesthetic or your financial budget.

So What’s The Alternative?

It’s not so much in how you wipe down your counters or how often you clean, so much as it actually has to really do with your product. You want a product that is acid free and surfactant, meaning that they contain molecules that are able to lift deposits of grease out of the pores.

While being mindful of quality and cost, there is one surefire product that you should use. That is Marblelife’s InterCare Cleaner. This cleaner has a non-acidic base and has been developed by professionals who have been in the stone care industry for over 25 years.

The InterCare Cleaner is a great all-around product that fits the description of everything you need to clean your marble and travertine countertops. It’s ready to use, has a proven record of capability, is streak free, and gets rid of oils and residue with absolute ease. It’s also a great general cleaner and only $8.95 on Marblelife’s website!

Also, try Marblelife’s Granite Countertop Cleaner for best results on granite.

For everyone concerned about their dish soap cleaning methods, it only takes a very small investment to ensure you’re cleaning the right way. Dish soap isn’t all-in-one cleaner. Leave the dish soap to the dish washing process and that’s all.

This myth has been debunked, so now you know. Dish soap isn’t all you thought it was.

Are You Actually Disinfecting Or Just Cleaning?

We’ve all been there. We’ve questioned whether or not we’re actually killing the present germs or rather we’re just making the area look nice. Well, no longer will this be a problem, because this article will help you recognize the difference between disinfecting and simply cleaning.

What’s The Key Difference?

Although cleaning and disinfecting are often used synonymously, they mean two different things. Disinfecting means actually killing the bacteria and viruses on a surface. Cleaning only removes the visible foreign matter on the surface. It is possible to only clean and not disinfect and vice versa.

Cleaning But Not Disinfecting

Let’s start with an example. Say someone sneezes on the counter and wipes it up with a cloth. Most likely, the bacteria are still present on the counter. But it looks fine, right? You’re won’t walk by and be afraid to touch the counter because you can’t see any visible bacterial elements.

Disinfecting But Not Cleaning

At first this doesn’t seem quite possible, however, the possibility is still present. For instance, say you just finished disinfecting your counter and then someone walks in from outside and gets sand all over it. Sand is not a living organism that brings in harmful bacteria; nevertheless your counter doesn’t look clean.

So What Do You Do?

Well if you’re trying to disinfect, perhaps after you’ve cooked in your kitchen, you may reach for bleach or other acid cleaner. But now you’ve traded one hazard for another as acid cleaners can cause skin and eye irritation. The easiest alternative is to turn to Marblelife.

Marblelife is the largest national stone care company that professionally services residential and commercial homes to clean, repair, and restore beautiful stone. But they also have acid-free professional products that can be used by everyday individuals.

The Process To Maintain A Truly Clean Surface

  1. Seal– Make sure that your surface has minimal chance for bacteria to seep into the pores and make it ridiculously difficult for disinfecting. You can do this yourself with Marblelife’s Stone Sealer.
  2. Disinfect and Clean- Now that you’re pretty confident that the problem is above the surface, get ready to clean and disinfect. Clean your surface as usual. Then you can use Marblelife’s Marble & Travertine InterCare Cleaner to disinfect easily without worrying about acidic elements.
  3. Reseal- Although it would be most ideal if sealing was a one-time thing, over time UV and natural acids will eat away at the seal. So plan on sealing every few years to maintain the true sterilized surface.

Keeping your surfaces clean and disinfected is crucial for more than simple aesthetic. It’s also very important for maintaining your health. So be sure to familiarize yourself with the key differences and look into Marblelife products! Making an extremely small investment for you and your family’s wellbeing could be the best choice you ever make.
