Do You Need A Professional Or Can You Clean It Yourself?

worker cleaning floor with machineWhen you have natural stone in your house, it’s important that you take proper care of it. The best way to do that is to have a professional come to your location on a regular maintenance plan. However, not everybody can choose this option based on their budget. So we’re going to discuss how you can properly maintain your stone surfaces on your own. Or decide that the investment in hiring a professional is the best choice for you.

How To Clean With MARBLELIFE

Cleaning with MARBLELIFE products is the best and simplest way that you can make a difference for the upkeep in your home. These products are designed by the professionals to actively wipe away bacteria, bring out the shine, and clean without damage. Other generic products are developed with acidic components that break down your stone over time and dull out the color and shine. Additionally, many products simply push around the bacteria instead of actually breaking down the elements and allowing for easy clean up.

If you see that your natural stone surfaces are colorful and shiny, then you can get away with purchasing an easy-to-use product and using it for everyday maintenance. Products like MARBLELIFE’s InterCare Cleaner will keep your stone clean, shiny, and colorful. But, if you notice that there is dulling, scratches, water deposits, or other issues, then you will probably benefit from employing a MARBLELIFE professional. They can complete regular servicing if you’re a busy person, or perform a one-time service that will get you ready to maintain the stone yourself with MARBLELIFE products.

What Else Will You Need A Professional For?

There are products not only for cleaning, but also for sealing, conditioning, and polishing your stone, which is an amazing tool to have for the best, overall maintenance plan. However, these products aren’t superheroes and have limited abilities. For example, if you want to repair a few small scratches, water spots, or etches in your marble countertop, then you can with MARBLELIFE’s Marble Polish. But, if the job is for your tile or your countertops have some big scratches or watermarks, then you will certainly benefit from the work of a professional.

Overall, MARBLELIFE products are great for daily maintenance if you have the time. The work of MARBLELIFE professionals is best for any situation. Whether you’d like the craftsmen to manage your stone regularly or to take on big project, MARBLELIFE is here to help you keep the beauty in your home.

So the next time you’re debating whether or not to hire a professional, simply take a look at the size of the project. If you can handle it, you can do it with MARBLELIFE! If it’s a bit much for your expertise, then MARBLELIFE can help you!

How To Care For Your Tile & Grout The Proper and Simple Way

If you have tile flooring or maybe tile in your bathroom or showers, then you probably know how easy the task of cleaning can get away from you. On one hand, the job is intimidating since this is a special surface that you don’t want to damage. On the other, you would probably much rather be doing anything else aside from cleaning. MARBLELIFE understands this phenomenon. So we have researched, tested, and practiced our tile and grout cleaning strategies in order to make your life easier. We’re here to teach you how to clean your tile and grout so easily and so effectively that you won’t have to feel that sense of grief much longer.

The Product

No matter what specific type of tile you have in your home, you will use the following methods. So don’t do any further research! We have your back.

For any process, you’ll need the proper resources and for cleaning your tile, the same concept applies. First, you’ll want to get a hold of professional, quality, non-damaging products. Using cleaners that are acidic can lead to serious color loss and crumbling in the grout joints. So you’ll want to get your hands on MARBLELIFE’s InterCare Cleaner, a non acid-based cleaner that has more use than one. For tile floors have a microfiber mop available or for smaller jobs use a microfiber towel.

If your grout is really dirty, then you will want to get MARBLELIFE’s MaxOut Grout Cleaner and a small bristle or tooth brush like tool.

The Process

We promised you a simple method that would clean your tiles effectively and easily. That is what you are going to get! You probably don’t even have to take notes.

There are two steps: spray and wipe. For tile surfaces, countertops, or showers all you have to do is spray InterCare Cleaner and wipe clean. The solution is made so that it actually picks up the bacteria and leaves your tile completely sanitized and beautiful. (For tile, you probably want to get the 32 oz size and pour the solution into a bucket and mop from there.)

For your grout, you can spray InterCare, wipe with a soft bristle brush, and wipe away the suds. If it is really dirty, then employ MaxOut Grout Cleaner or try the process twice.

What’s next?

That’s it! And the best part is that if you clean it properly the first time around, it’ll be a longer span of time until you need to clean it again. So not only do you clean it easily, correctly, and effectively, you also won’t have to worry about it for a good while. Your grout will be protected even longer if you use MARBLELIFE’s Stone Sealer to close those grout pores and prevent dirt and bacteria from entering.

Visit MARBLELIFE’s product site and get products that have been tested and proven for years. Generic cleaners are typically acidic and don’t pick up on present bacteria. So if you want to make sure you’re cleaning less and living more, make sure you choose MARBLELIFE. And if you really don’t want to clean your tile and grout, MARBLELIFE’s professionals can set up a maintenance plan so your natural stone always brings out the best in your home. Good luck and keep cleaning with MARBLELIFE!

MARBLELIFE® Marble Polish & Neutralizer Set

MARBLELIFE® Marble Polish & Neutralizer Set

Everything You Need to Remove Light Etchs, Spots & Spill Marks

Perfect for marble vanities, table tops, showers and walls as well.

Restore your beautiful finish! Then Neutralize future acidic spills (versus attacks) with MARBLELIFE Marble Cleaner & Neutralizer.  Juices, coffee, sodas are all potentially acidic and can damage your surface and finish if allowed to dwell. – AND PREVENT THEM FROM COMING BACK!

Etch - Before & After Polishing

Clean. Restore. Neutralize.

MARBLE POLISH (8oz) – When stubborn white marks, rings, streaks and spill marks appear on marble, these are generally not dirt ON the marble, but rather the result of damage associated with an acid attack from an acidic spill or inappropriate cleaning with vinegar or another acid containing cleaner. Marble Polish is engineered to allow you to re-polish light etches, smoothing the roughened surface to allow light to once again reflect true, translating to a restored gloss appearance.

If you can see the damage but cannot feel it while swiping over with you finger, this is surface level and can easily be eliminated with this polish. However, if you can easily feel the damage with a swipe over, then it’s a deep mark and you will need professional help. For rough areas that you can feel, this product can help to smoothen the scratches out (think of going from a sharp crevice to a smooth bowl) but can not make the scratch level with the rest of your surface. Other products may claim to fix these issues, but are just going to deposit wax into the scratch and make it appear to be gone until your next clean takes the product off.

Marble Polish is designed for small repairs like spots, spills, cup rings as well as on such areas as countertops, vanity tops or table tops. Marble Polish is not designed to polish large areas such as floors. For floors and large areas consult with a Marblelife Service Professional for trusted help.

MARBLE CLEANER & NEUTRALIZER (8oz) is designed to safely clean your stone and neutralize spills before they etch. This product will also halt the polishing action of the MARBLELIFE MARBLE POLISH, making it an essential part of completing your re-polishing process. MARBLELIFE Cleaner & Neutralizer halts the damaging action of acidic cleaners and food spills before they can create spots, rings and spill marks in your marble. Simply spray on and wipe dry. Time is of the essence. The longer an acid material is in contact with your marble before being neutralizing, the more damage done. Damage can be avoided if cleaned up immediately. All of MARBLELIFE’s Marble, Granite and Travertine cleaners can be used in this manner. Each is safe for daily use, and incorporates MARBLELIFE’s surfactant based acid neutralizing technology for a longer lasting beautiful marble finish.

Product Directions

The following are two recommended procedures to properly polish out etches and light scratches from polished marble and travertine, both with a buffer and without a buffer.  The choice to use a buffer is completely yours.  Buffers are most helpful in larger areas like countertops, vanities or table tops.  Small repairs like spots, spills or cup rings can be easily done by hand.  Either way, the choice is yours.

Marblelife Polish is a professionals product and requires some care when being used.  You will want to work quickly once the product is on the marble surface.  If marble polish is left to sit on the surface without moving, it can cause an etch itself.  However, while in motion, it is wonderful for polishing marble.

Based on the severity of the damage and the type of marble, multiple efforts may be required and patience is recommended.  Be assured that regardless of the outcome, Marblelife Customer Care is able to walk you through the process.  If for any reason you do not see the desired results, please contact Marblelife Customer Care for free assistance in achieving the desired results.

With Buffer Method

Using a low speed orbiting buffer can help make for easier work on larger areas.  Be careful to clear the area and protect as needed, as the buffer can at times splatter polish.  For this reason we recommend wearing old clothing and protect other nearby furniture or surfaces.  Before using the buffer, it is recommended that you first use the Without Buffer Method to gain an understanding of how your particular marble responds to the Marble Polish and to know how much Marble Cleaner is required.

Needed Supplies:

Step 1 – Clean

Before polishing, it is important that you first clean the area thoroughly with Marblelife Cleaner & Neutralizer.  This neutralizes any acids that may be present and removes oils, dirt, and other contaminants that you will not want in your polishing slurry.

Spray Marblelife Cleaner & Neutralizer on surface and scrub with a clean soft cloth.  Allow the cleaner to soak for a couple minutes, then buff dry with the dry side of your cloth.  After buffing dry, you are clear to proceed to step two.

Step 2 – Preparing the Buffer & Pad

Remove the backing from the piece of Velcro that came with your buffer.  Apply the self sticking piece of Velcro to the center of the bottom of the black rotating base of the buffer.  This will help hold the polishing pad in place.  Next, press the 6” Tan Polishing Pad to the bottom of the buffer.  The Velcro will not hold the polishing pad to the buffer, it will only help hold it in place while in use.

Step 3 – Applying a Neutral Base

Slowly spray an egg sized amount of the Cleaner & Neutralizer on the etched or scratched area.  Marble Polish is capable of polishing out heavy etches in hard marble, so to work with light etches in soft marble, we use Marblelife Cleaner & Neutralizer to “cool” down the Polish so that it doesn’t cause a larger etch.

Step 4 – Applying the Polish

Apply about a quarter size amount of Marble Polish onto the bottom of the tan polishing pad.  Place the pad and buffer over the damaged area, turn on the buffer and move the buffer in a small circular motion with a medium pressure.  Your pressure should be enough that it slows the buffer slightly, but not so firm that it drastically slows the buffer.  Polish for only about 10 seconds and IMMEDIATELY proceed to Step 5.

Step 5 – Neutralize & Remove Polish

Immediately spray the Cleaner & Neutralizer onto the polished area enough to saturate the Polish on the marble surface and immediately wipe Polish off the surface with a paper towel.

Step 6 – Clean & Survey

After wiping the Marble Polish off, spray the Marblelife Cleaner & Neutralizer on the polished area again to thoroughly neutralize and clean the area.  Buff dry and assess your progress.  At this point the damage may be gone, you marble looks great and you are done.  If the etch is lighter but still visible, repeat Step 2 through 6 until damage is no longer visible.

If the damage is gone or lighter, but the area you polished has a haze, you will want to repeat steps 2 through 6, but this time using more Marblelife Cleaner & Neutralizer to cool down the polish.  If after each application you are not seeing improved results, you should repeat Steps 2 through 6, but now using less to no Marblelife Cleaner & Neutralizer.

If for any reason you are not satisfied with the results, please contact Marblelife Customer Care for free assistance in achieving the desired results.

Without Buffer Method

Polishing by hand is a good way to deal with small issues like spots, spills and cup rings.  It will take firm pressure, but allows you to do a small controlled area at a time to better understand how your particular marble responds to the Marble Polish.

Needed Supplies: (Marble Kit includes everything except towels)

  • Marblelife Marble Polish & Neutralizer
  • Clean soft rags
  • Paper towels
  • Microfiber Towels (Optional)

Step 1 – Clean

Before polishing, it is important that you first clean the area thoroughly with Marblelife Cleaner & Neutralizer.  This neutralizes any acids that may be present and removes oils, dirt and other contaminants that you will not want in your polishing slurry.

Spray Cleaner & Neutralizer on the surface and scrub with a clean soft cloth.  Allow the cleaner to soak for a couple of minutes, then buff dry with the dry side of your cloth.  After buffing dry you are clear to proceed to step two.

Step 2 – Applying a Neutral Base

Slowly spray an egg sized amount of Cleaner & Neutralizer on the etched or scratched area.  Marble Polish is capable of polishing out heavy etches in hard marble, so to work with light etches in soft marble, we use the Cleaner & Neutralizer to “cool” down the polish so that it doesn’t cause a larger etch.

Step 3 – Applying the Polish

Apply about a quarter size amount of Marble Polish onto the clean cloth.  With the Marble Polish on the rag, polish the damaged area in a circular motion with firm pressure.  Only do an 8” diameter area or smaller at a time.  Polish for only about 10 seconds and IMMEDIATELY proceed to Step 4.

Step 4 – Neutralize & Remove Polish

Immediately spray Cleaner & Neutralizer onto the polished area enough to saturate the polish on the marble surface and immediately wipe Polish off the surface with a paper towel.

Step 5 – Clean & Survey

After wiping the Marble Polish off, spray the Cleaner & Neutralizer on the polished area again to thoroughly neutralize and clean the area.  Buff dry and assess your progress.  At this point the damage may be gone, you marble looks great and you are done.  If the etch is lighter but still visible, repeat Step 2 through 5 until damage is no longer visible.

If the damage is gone or lighter, but the area you polished has a haze, you will want to repeat steps 2 through 5, but this time using more Cleaner & Neutralizer to cool down the polish.  If after each application you are not seeing improved results, you should repeat Steps 2 through 5, but now using less to no Cleaner & Neutralizer.

If for any reason you are not satisfied with the results, please contact Marblelife Customer Care for free assistance in achieving the desired results.

What You Can Do With Just One Affordable Cleaning Product

You’ve probably wished that a universal cleaner existed so that you could empty out your cabinets and have a reliable go-to product for every possible situation. Well, that product still has yet to be engineered, however there’s one product that is amazingly close enough! That product is MARBLELIFE’s InterCare Cleaner that can clean windows, glass cooking tops, dust, clean floors, get the stains out of carpets, and even more. Many multi-purpose cleaning products actually fail to serve even one purpose, but this professional product is truly the surefire solution. Here are just a few ways you can take advantage of this product.

Cleaning Windows and Glass

To get that perfect clean and shine, simply use MARBLELIFE’s InterCare Cleaner and a soft towel. Clean your windows and glass with a modest spray and wipe method. Spray the cleaner and wipe with a towel, then use the dry side to buff out the streaks for a finishing shine. Repeat this process until the dry side is too wet and then use a new towel.

Clean your mirrors, glass, and cooking tops with just one product that produces perfect results every time.

Dusting with InterCare

You can dust with a cleaning solution? This may come as a shock for you, but yes, you can! Simply spray InterCare Cleaner onto a towel and begin to lightly wipe away at the dust. The cleaner and towel combined helps to keep the dust in the towel and doesn’t simply move it around.

Pro tip: add extra InterCare to remove smudges and fingerprints at the same time as you dust.

Cleaning Your Floors

The traditional mop and bucket isn’t conventional if you want to stop bacteria and viruses. Mops aren’t ever really cleaned so they hold bacteria and viruses that you later spread all over your floor. Additionally, you push dirty water into the grout lines and create dirt deposits.

You can avoid all of this with InterCare Cleaner, a microfiber mop, and some inexpensive microfiber towels. Microfiber towels are reusable, can be thrown in the washer, perform better than pads, and are easy on your finances. Spray InterCare Cleaner on the floor and mop with the microfiber towel on the mop.  When you’re finished with an area, turn over the towel and buff it dry to leave a clean, streak free shine. Spots in the grout can also be cleaned with InterCare Cleaner and a toothbrush—wipe away the dirty suds with a used towel. The end result is a clean, sanitized, healthy, and eco-friendly shine for your flooring.

How Do I Get My Hands On InterCare Cleaner?

The possibilities for cleaning with InterCare Cleaner promise to bring you the best value for your investment. You can’t possibly go wrong with an inexpensive cleaner that can help you with all the necessities. Use it on your glass, windows, carpet, furniture, leather, and fabric. MARBLELIFE’s InterCare Cleaner is there for you in so many situations.

Debunked Myth: Cleaning With Water

Water is an amazing element on this Earth. It houses animals, cleans, hydrates, and gives life. However, as amazing as this element is, you can’t depend on it for everything. One of the things you can’t depend on water for is cleaning your natural stone countertops. The myth that using water for your marble and granite countertops will be safe is actually false. Would you wash your dishes with only water? Or perhaps take a shower with just water? Well, of course not, unless you wanted to do a bad job at cleaning. The same goes for water and natural stone. Read on to learn more about the alternatives.

Debunking The Water Myth

Firstly, water is not something that can remove oil and grease, the most common elements that get stuck in between the pores and crevices of your countertops and grout. A build up over time can cause stains, dulling, and an odor.

Secondly, water doesn’t kill bacteria or viruses. These pathogens live in and among the oils trapped within the pores of the countertop and can be a health hazard to anyone interacting with it.

Thirdly, water cannot remove residue left on the surface and results in a dulling surface. Then, individuals will run out to the store and typically buy a generic polish or something similar to fix the issue. However, these polishes just contribute to the compounding of residue on the surface and in the pores leading to eventual damage.

In conclusion, water is doing nothing and if anything it’s actually damaging your stone surfaces.

What’s The Solution?

We’re not here to just tell you that your cleaning methods are incorrect; we’re also here to provide a solution. Simply applying the same methods will not yield your desired results. What you’ll need is some quality cleaning products that actually adhere to the facts. You want something that will emulsify oils so that they can be lifted away, along with other undesirable elements.

Instead you’ll want a quality and proven product that the professionals swear by. Those products are from MARBLELIFE. Why? MARBLELIFE has over 25 years of experience in stone care and hosts North America’s largest network of certified craftsmen. How To Get That Shine Back In Your Marble

Interior, modern kitchen of a luxury home

Is your marble looking a little dull or run-down? Has it lost its original shine? Have you tried a few household tips that you found on Google and nothing has changed? Well, we have the real solution for you! It all starts with the right product.

If you’ve been consistent in your cleaning and maintenance efforts, then odds are you’re simply using the wrong product. Getting your shine back into your marble can be effortless with professional quality stone cleaners. You need something that has been tested, proven, persistent, and is easy to use. Don’t worry; we have you covered! So, let’s begin with the basics.

How To Get The Shine Back

This process will require the use of all MARBLELIFE products as these products are designed to work best when built off of each other.

  1. Clean Your Marble- Your marble cannot be shiny without first being clean. Use MARBLELIFE’s Marble & Travertine Cleaner to prepare your surface for the rest of the process. Simply spray and wipe!

  1. Polish Your Marble- While you’re at it, you might as well use MARBLELIFE’s Marble Polish to work away at the etches and scratches in your marble. This isn’t putting some oils on the surface, but instead it is repairing small imperfections. After all, when your marble has that shine again, you’ll probably be able to spot those etches and scratches quickly.

So work away at the small flaws within the surface in order to ensure a perfect finishing look at the end.

  1. Seal Your Marble- If your marble hasn’t been sealed recently, then you’ll want to take this step to fill the porous stone. Foreign liquids and materials can enter into the cracks of the marble and slowly damage it from the inside. You want to seal your marble at least once every year with MARBLELIFE’s Marble Sealer.

  1. Condition Your Marble- This is where you will finally renew the shine in your marble. You’ll want to employ the use of MARBLELIFE’s Gloss Conditioner. This product can be used with marble, travertine and other natural stones as well. Simply apply and work the conditioner into the surface with a soft cloth or buffer.

Do not use conditioner on floors or steps, as it will make the surface too slippery and dangerous. To renew your floor’s shine, talk to MARBLELIFE about restoring your marble. The professionals can take care of it for you and even setup a maintenance plan to ensure your marble always looks its best.

The Results

As you can tell, the process of getting your marble’s surface to shine beautifully and brightly isn’t all that difficult. It just requires a simple process with the right products. And if you’re not convinced these products are the answer to all of your problems, then head over to MARBLELIFE’s Homeowner University where you can find videos showcasing the success of professional products. Preparing Your Home For The Holidays

It’s that time of year again. The holidays are quickly approaching and soon it’ll be time to have family and friends over in celebration. Before you can celebrate, you will of course have to prepare. One way you can prepare is by cleaning your home. You want your home to look its absolute best since it is a reflection of who you are. One area that often gets overlooked when deep cleaning your home is your stone flooring! Though one of the biggest aspects of your home, stone floors are often disregarded, resulting in unclean and unpolished floors.

Perhaps it’s because not many people know how to properly clean their floors. As long as there isn’t any dirt or stains it seems fine. However, it takes more than sweeping and wiping up spills to restore the beauty of your floor. Knowledge is power when it comes to maintaining your stone floors. So, just in time for the holidays, here are some curated tips of value that will serve you in your pursuit of clean and polished floors.

Sand and Stone Don’t Mix Well

Abrasives are not what you want if you want to maintain the beauty and worth of your stone floors. Thus, sand, grit, and dirt are damaging and should be removed right away. If left, these abrasives can cause scratching on your floor and will slowly depreciate its overall appearance.

You can easily combat sand and dirt from scratching up your stone if you place mats at entrances to the home. The results will be even better if you park your shoes at the door.

If you wish you had known about this issue a long time ago, then there’s still time to do some damage control. Use a trusted and professional stone polish that will easily help you eliminate existing scratch imperfections. A suggested polish brand is Marblelife’s Marble Polish, for those of you who have marble flooring in need of a solution.

Cleaning Can Be Complicated

When it comes to stone floors, you’ll want to employ certain methods and avoid others. In other words, you’ll want to clean up spills immediately and clean the floor regularly. Use a marble floor cleaner instead of detergent and be sure to rinse well, as too much cleaner or soap can leave a film and cause streaks.

Damp cleaning your floors can decently maintain the beauty and look of your stone, however there are better products you can use. Products like MARBLELIFE’s Intercare cleaners are manufactured specifically for stone unlike general cleaners. You don’t want to use general cleaners that contain acid, lemon juice, or vinegar on marble, limestone, or travertine. Professional cleaners are made with this understanding in mind. With the right tools you will avoid damage, stains, and dulling, but maintain all of the clean.

Let The Professionals Take Care Of It

Alternatively, if you are on a time crunch and have to address other issues before your guests arrive, then you could hire a professional. Let them clean and polish your floors to perfection like they were meant to be. Your floors will shine and radiate with color or shine prompting you and your guests to be impressed. The professionals at MARBLELIFE have over 25 years of experience with stone care, so you know whom to turn to for complete satisfaction.

Don’t forget about your flooring this holiday season! Have it cleaned and polished to perfection with the best cleaning methods available for your stone floors. Visit MARBLELIFE’s website for more information on how you can properly clean and polish your natural stone floors.

Debunked Myth: Cleaning With Dish Soap Is Not Okay

Men cleaning the dishes

You’ve probably often contemplated the methods of your cleaning and perhaps you continued to clean with those same techniques despite your apprehensions. Because cleaning is still cleaning even if it isn’t the best way, right? Something is better than nothing, right? Well, not exactly. If you’re going to keep your place clean, then you might as well take a few minutes to learn the proper ways to disinfect and clean to avoid long-term damages or illness. One serious cleaning mistake you could be making has to do with dish soap. It can damage and leave residue, so you’ll ultimately want to learn what the alternative is.

Dish Soap Won’t Get The Job Done

Dish soap is best used for its purpose: washing dishes. If you’re using it to clean your countertops simply because the product is readily available, then you are allowing for residue to build up and inconveniently dull your granite, marble, and grout. This is due to dish soap containing oils that will be trapped in the porous openings of your stone surfaces.

Even if you rinse a rag and sponge several times, you’ll notice that there is enough residue so that suds can be created time and time again. Dish soap is made for when there is excess water to be used, but counter cleaning isn’t a place for water, unless you enjoy flooding of your floors and surrounding pieces. The residue will build up much like soap scum in a shower even if it isn’t visible and dull your surfaces over time. This is not positively contributing to your home’s aesthetic or your financial budget.

So What’s The Alternative?

It’s not so much in how you wipe down your counters or how often you clean, so much as it actually has to really do with your product. You want a product that is acid free and surfactant, meaning that they contain molecules that are able to lift deposits of grease out of the pores.

While being mindful of quality and cost, there is one surefire product that you should use. That is Marblelife’s InterCare Cleaner. This cleaner has a non-acidic base and has been developed by professionals who have been in the stone care industry for over 25 years.

The InterCare Cleaner is a great all-around product that fits the description of everything you need to clean your marble and travertine countertops. It’s ready to use, has a proven record of capability, is streak free, and gets rid of oils and residue with absolute ease. It’s also a great general cleaner and only $8.95 on Marblelife’s website!

Also, try Marblelife’s Granite Countertop Cleaner for best results on granite.

For everyone concerned about their dish soap cleaning methods, it only takes a very small investment to ensure you’re cleaning the right way. Dish soap isn’t all-in-one cleaner. Leave the dish soap to the dish washing process and that’s all.

This myth has been debunked, so now you know. Dish soap isn’t all you thought it was.

Are You Actually Disinfecting Or Just Cleaning?

We’ve all been there. We’ve questioned whether or not we’re actually killing the present germs or rather we’re just making the area look nice. Well, no longer will this be a problem, because this article will help you recognize the difference between disinfecting and simply cleaning.

What’s The Key Difference?

Although cleaning and disinfecting are often used synonymously, they mean two different things. Disinfecting means actually killing the bacteria and viruses on a surface. Cleaning only removes the visible foreign matter on the surface. It is possible to only clean and not disinfect and vice versa.

Cleaning But Not Disinfecting

Let’s start with an example. Say someone sneezes on the counter and wipes it up with a cloth. Most likely, the bacteria are still present on the counter. But it looks fine, right? You’re won’t walk by and be afraid to touch the counter because you can’t see any visible bacterial elements.

Disinfecting But Not Cleaning

At first this doesn’t seem quite possible, however, the possibility is still present. For instance, say you just finished disinfecting your counter and then someone walks in from outside and gets sand all over it. Sand is not a living organism that brings in harmful bacteria; nevertheless your counter doesn’t look clean.

So What Do You Do?

Well if you’re trying to disinfect, perhaps after you’ve cooked in your kitchen, you may reach for bleach or other acid cleaner. But now you’ve traded one hazard for another as acid cleaners can cause skin and eye irritation. The easiest alternative is to turn to Marblelife.

Marblelife is the largest national stone care company that professionally services residential and commercial homes to clean, repair, and restore beautiful stone. But they also have acid-free professional products that can be used by everyday individuals.

The Process To Maintain A Truly Clean Surface

  1. Seal– Make sure that your surface has minimal chance for bacteria to seep into the pores and make it ridiculously difficult for disinfecting. You can do this yourself with Marblelife’s Stone Sealer.
  2. Disinfect and Clean- Now that you’re pretty confident that the problem is above the surface, get ready to clean and disinfect. Clean your surface as usual. Then you can use Marblelife’s Marble & Travertine InterCare Cleaner to disinfect easily without worrying about acidic elements.
  3. Reseal- Although it would be most ideal if sealing was a one-time thing, over time UV and natural acids will eat away at the seal. So plan on sealing every few years to maintain the true sterilized surface.

Keeping your surfaces clean and disinfected is crucial for more than simple aesthetic. It’s also very important for maintaining your health. So be sure to familiarize yourself with the key differences and look into Marblelife products! Making an extremely small investment for you and your family’s wellbeing could be the best choice you ever make.
